It’s All About You

Homecare assessment system to better support your needs

One of our professionally trained Team Leaders will come and visit you and complete an initial assessment to design a tailored care plan to your individual needs.

Our care plans are regularly reviewed to ensure we are providing you with a service that meets your needs and requirements and all changes are accounted for however big or small. We aim to do a review of your care every 6 months to ensure that the care package in place is right for you. If your needs change prior to this review, we will endeavour to change the requirements as quick as possible.

Your care plan will include a risk assessment to identify the precautions necessary to maintain health and hygiene.

Getting Support in Paying for Care

Understand your options of getting help and funding when it comes to paying for the care you deserve

Continuing Healthcare Needs support from the NHS

You may be entitled Continuing Healthcare Needs support from the NHS which covers some, or all of your care costs. Your eligibility depends on your assessed needs, and not on any particular diagnosis or condition:

  • What help is needed
  • How complex these needs are
  • How intense or severe these needs can be
  • How unpredictable they are, including any risks to the person’s health if the right care isn’t provided at the right time

Direct payments for adults

One more way to get funds to pay for your care. For more info click here.

Other benefits and support

There are many of the benefits you are entitled that are not impacted by your income or any savings. Additionally, not all benefits are means-tested so irrespective of what other income you have, you will be entitled to the benefit.

The main benefits that you can look at claiming are:

Personal Independence Payment

If you have mobility issues and have trouble getting around or undertaking everyday tasks you may be entitled to claim for a Personal Independence Payment, or sometimes called a PIP. This benefit has replaced the disability living allowance for people aged 16 to 64. See details of the attendance allowance below if you are aged over 65.

Attendance Allowance

If you are over 65 and need some support with ongoing personal care or if you have a disability which means that you need regular supervision to avoid putting yourself in danger you may be entitled to claim the Attendance Allowance. The ability to claim an attendance allowance is not based on the care that you currently receive but the care that you need. Therefore, even if you do not currently receive any support from a carer, you may still be entitled to make a claim.

How much you are entitled to claim depends on whether you need carer support in the day or in the night.

Council tax discounts and exemptions

Depending on the benefits that you are claiming, you may be entitled to receive either a discount or exemption to your council tax. Additionally, if you have had to make any modifications to your home, to help give you a better quality of life, then you should not have to pay any extra council tax.

State Pension

Once you reach State Pension Age, and assuming you many have made the necessary national insurance contributions over your working life, you will be entitled to receive a State Pension. The amount you get will depend on how much you have paid in national insurance contributions.

Pension Credit

Pension Credit is extra money for pensioners to bring your weekly income up to a minimum amount.

Work For Us

Care Assistant Jobs in Hertfordshire

Every day the Serve Homecare team provides critical home care support to vulnerable, elderly and disabled people living in their own homes.

What does care work involve? Care assistants help people with all sorts of practical tasks including shopping, housework, laundry and even personal admin. In most cases, though, care assistants largely support people with their personal care needs. Personal care is intimate support that will mean helping a person to wash or dress, use the toilet or prepare meals. It could also involve helping someone to take medicines or manage incontinence.

It’s important that we don’t pretend that care work isn’t sometimes upsetting and tiring – it is. But, it’s also one of the most rewarding jobs anyone can do.

As a care assistant, you have a unique opportunity to bring a ray of sunshine into the life of someone that may be isolated, lonely, in pain or distressed. You can bring peace of mind to family carers that, as much as they would like to, can’t always be there with their beloved mum, dad or grandparent. You can bring hope and inspiration or even just company, kind words and a cup of tea. And, at the end of hard day, you will sleep well knowing that you have made a real difference. That’s not a job – it’s a vocation.

If this sounds interesting to you, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are more than happy to talk the role over with you. You can join our team by filling the following form.
