Funding Your Care

Your Options Explained

Paying for care can be overwhelming, but there are several options available to support you with funding your care. Below, we’ve outlined the various methods to help you understand your options and make an informed decision. If you need further assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us—our team is here to guide you every step of the way.

1. Private Funding

If you are funding your care privately, you will be responsible for paying the full cost of the services you need. This option is typically chosen when you don’t qualify for local authority or NHS support. Many people choose this route to have greater flexibility and choice over the care they receive.

We can help you create a care plan that suits your needs and budget, ensuring you receive the highest level of service tailored to your preferences.

2. Adult Social Care (Local Authority Support)

If you're struggling to pay for care, you may be eligible for support through Adult Social Care services. The local authority may fund part or all of your care, depending on your needs and financial situation. To find out if you’re eligible for this support, you can contact your local council for a needs assessment.

If you qualify for local authority funding, we can work with you and the local council to create a care plan that ensures you get the care and support you need.

3. NHS Continuing Healthcare

If you have significant health or care needs, you may be entitled to NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding. This is designed to cover the cost of your care when your needs are primarily health-related. The eligibility for CHC depends on the complexity, intensity, severity, and unpredictability of your care needs—not a specific diagnosis.

A needs assessment will be conducted to determine if you qualify for Continuing Healthcare funding. If you do, the NHS will cover the cost of your care, allowing you to receive services free of charge.

For more information, contact the NHS or your local authority to start the assessment process.

4. Direct Payments for Adults

Direct Payments are a way for you to manage your care funding directly. If you qualify for local authority support or NHS funding, you may be given the option of Direct Payments. This allows you to receive money from your local authority or the NHS to arrange and manage your care independently.

Direct Payments give you more flexibility and control over how your care is provided. You can use these funds to hire carers, pay for equipment, or access other services that meet your needs.

For more information on how to access Direct Payments, speak to your local authority or NHS services to determine your eligibility and how the process works.

5. Other Financial Support Options

There are additional financial aids available for eligible individuals, such as:

• Personal Independence Payment (PIP): For those with mobility issues or challenges in performing daily tasks, PIP can provide financial support.

• Attendance Allowance: For people aged 65 and over who require regular assistance with personal care tasks.

• Council Tax Discounts and Exemptions: If you are receiving certain benefits or have had modifications made to your home, you may be eligible for reductions in your council tax.

• Pension Credit: If you are a pensioner and your income is below a certain threshold, Pension Credit can provide additional support.
